What Village do you live in?

The Villages

Where were you working when you retired, and what was your position?

High School Art Teacher and Golf Coach, New Hampton, Iowa.

What have you been doing since you retired?

In The Villages, I was a "Starter." I started the ER Club, the Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group, and the Ladies Travel Billiard Team. I served many years on the Lady Lake Library Board. These were years when we were working on building a new million dollar library. My suggestion was taken about having a clock on the tower. I was past member of the CIC. After retiring to The Villages I taught art classes at The Villages Learning College for twenty years. I was also on the Parks & Recreation Board of Lady Lake. I was a golf coach and pro playing in Iowa, Minnesota, and Canada and had seven holes in one in three states. In my estimation the thing I'm most proud of as far as teaching goes was my recommendation to the Allison, Iowa, school board that all seniors be required to take a speech class.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

With a few seconds left in 1999, with camera ready, I was in front of my home on Schwartz Blvd swinging a golf club hitting a ball with an iron across the street to the 4th hole on Orange Blossom Garden and when it landed it was another century, the first second of the year 2000!
